Websites for chimney sweeps

A website built around how people book a sweep: your number on every screen, your registration where customers can check it and a certificate after every job. From £39 a month, ordered online.

An example site we built for a chimney sweep in Market Drayton, and what each part is for

The top of the example sweep site on a phone
  1. Phone number and opening hours along the top of every page. Most people looking for a sweep want to ring, not read.
  2. The headline says what you do and where, in the words people search with. That's what Google matches them to.
  3. A Call button that follows them down the page, so they never have to scroll back up for the number.
The example site explaining how a sweep works, on a phone
  1. Their own photo of the dust sheets going down. The worry with a sweep is mess, so the site deals with it first.
  2. The job in plain steps, ending with the certificate.
A table on the example site of how often to sweep for each fuel, on a phone
  1. How often to sweep for each fuel. It answers a question people really ask and gives them a reason to book again.
  2. A line about the certificate, because home insurers can ask for one.
Reviews and areas covered on the example site, on a phone
  1. Real reviews from their customers and their Facebook rating, word for word.
  2. The towns covered, so people in each one know you come to them.

What a chimney sweep's website needs

Before someone books a sweep they want to know three things: are you registered, will you make a mess and can you come soon. A good site answers all three before they ring.

A number they can tap

Your phone number at the top of every page and a Call button that stays on screen. If you use WhatsApp for bookings, that goes next to it.

Your registration, where they can check it

If you're with HETAS, NACS or the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps, or registered with OFTEC for installs, we show the badge and your number. Customers can then look you up for themselves.

The certificate

Home insurers can ask to see a certificate from a registered sweep, so say plainly that you give one after every job.

What you sweep and what else you do

Open fires, wood burners, multi-fuel stoves, AGAs and Rayburns. Then stove servicing, bird guards, smoke tests and installs, each written out properly so Google knows you do them.

The towns you cover

A list of towns on every plan. On Standard you also get a page for each of up to 3 towns and on Growth up to 6, which helps you show up in each one.

Proof that you leave it clean

Photos of your own work: sheets down, a clean hearth, a stove you fitted. Plus your real reviews from Facebook or Google. We never make reviews up.

A way to book before the autumn rush

Most people think about their chimney when the weather turns. A simple booking form or WhatsApp link means they can get on your list at 10pm, when they're thinking about it.

Registrations and badges worth showing

Sweeping isn't a regulated trade, so anyone can call themselves a sweep. That's why the badges matter: they're how a customer tells a trained, insured sweep from someone with a brush and a van.

HETAS

The competent person scheme for solid fuel, wood and biomass appliances. It approves sweeps as well as stove installers, so a customer with a new wood burner knows you understand what they've got.

HETAS has a public search of registered businesses by postcode. We show your badge with your HETAS details and link to it.

NACS (National Association of Chimney Sweeps)

A trade association whose members have done its training and hold insurance under its code of conduct. For a customer it means you're trained and covered if something goes wrong.

NACS has a public Find a Chimney Sweep search. We put the logo near your phone number and link to it.

The Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps

A not-for-profit trade association for professional sweeps, whose members have to keep up refresher training.

The Guild runs a public sweep finder with a profile page for each member. We link your badge to your profile.

APICS (Association of Professional Independent Chimney Sweeps)

An association that sets standards sweeps must meet to join, then supports them with training.

APICS has a search on its own site for finding a sweep. We show the badge and link to it.

When people look for a sweep

Most searches are short and local: “chimney sweep” plus a town, typed on a phone. A lot of them arrive with the first cold evenings, when people light the fire for the first time in months. Others come after a problem, like smoke in the room or a bird in the flue.

So the site has to work for both. For the planned sweep it's about booking: which days you cover each area and how far ahead you're booked. For the problem it's a Call button and a plain line on what you can fix.

Using the quiet months

Spring and summer are quieter for most sweeps, which makes them the time to fill the autumn diary early. A line asking people to book before the cold weather gives them a reason to ring now rather than in October.

Send us photos from those months too, like a cowl going on or a stove you've serviced. Late summer, once nesting season is over, is a good time to sell bird guards.

Welsh-speaking customers

If you work in Wales and speak Welsh, say so. A line like “Siaradwr Cymraeg” next to your number tells people they can book in Welsh. If you want the whole site in both languages, a Welsh version is £150 from your Welsh text, or we arrange translation at cost.

How the costs compare

A chimney sweep's website costs from about £110 a year if you build it yourself, or £39 to £99 a month from a pay-monthly firm like us. Most sweeps need three to five pages: what you sweep, your registration, your certificate and the towns you cover.

Questions sweeps ask

All questions

I get most of my work through Facebook. Do I need a website?

Facebook is good for people who already know you. A website is what Google can show to someone who doesn't, when they search for a sweep in your town. It's also yours, so it doesn't change when Facebook does.

Can you put my registration number on it?

Yes. Send us your scheme and number and we put the badge and number on the site. Where the scheme has its own search, we link to it so customers can check you.

Can I add a "fully booked" notice in the autumn?

Yes. On Standard and Growth that comes out of your monthly changes. On Starter, a quick update like this counts as your one small change for the month. Anything bigger is £45 an hour.

Do you only build sites for sweeps?

No. We build them for tradespeople and local businesses of all kinds. This page is about what a sweep needs.

What does it cost in total?

£199 to set up, then £39, £69 or £99 a month depending on the plan. The minimum term is 12 months. After that you can cancel any time with 30 days' notice.

I sweep and fit stoves. Can installs have their own page?

Yes. Starter and Standard have 3 to 5 pages, so sweeping and installs can each have one. Growth has up to 10. If you need more, extra pages are £50 each.

Can customers leave me a review from the site?

On Growth you get a review-request link and a QR code for your van or invoices, so happy customers can leave a Google review in a few taps.

Ready when you are. It takes about ten minutes to order.

From £39 a month, plus £199 setup.
